What's Happening?
Hello everyone! How are you doing? I hope all is well and you're not stuck inside too long. This time of year, is hard for a lot of people. It's known as The Winter Blues. It's a time when daylight is limited, and it feels all dark and yucky alI the time. The fact that it has a name should tell you that many people suffer from this condition. The fact that it come right after all the holidays with the happy lights and the merry decorations all about doesn't help things.
What are some things that we can do to help get through this?
1. Try leaving some twinkling lights up a bit longer. There is no law that states all lights and decorations have to be put up at the start of the New Year. Leaving some brightness about might help your spirit feel a bit brighter.
2. Start preparing for Spring. Plants can be started inside during the winter and then transplanted outside after the last frost. This will give you something to look forward to when waking up and keep your thoughts close to the sunshine that will come with the warmer weather.
3. Have a fireplace on. No, you don't have to go buy or build a fireplace (unless you want to) I personally love having a wood stove, even if it is a miniature)). There are many apps and programs (movie apps, music apps) that have a fireplace burning and crackling. Some have music quietly playing, some just have the crackling fire. There are many backgrounds to choose from, inside or outside. I was amazed when I stumbled across this. You can put it on your TV, phone, or tablet. Anywhere you can project and use as a screen. This always brightens my mood.
4. Take advantage of bright sunny days. It might be too cold to be out, but that doesn't keep you from opening the curtains or blinds and letting all that nice sunshine in. Move your comfy place closer to sit in the sunshine rays and grab a nice cup of coffee or tea and just let your mind wander. You could also use this opportunity to dig into a really good book series.
I hope this has helped a few people!
Until Next Time! Sending Well Wishes to Everyone!!
